"* BASED ON REDUCED EXCISE TAX RATE EFFECTIVE JAN. 1, 1966"

Soon after completing the blog entry Window Sticker Federal Excise Tax (FET) Repealed in 1971, I happened to notice another window sticker that has some printed verbiage at the bottom concerning the FET tax, but it is on a window sticker from a 1966 Impala.

After looking at the History of Federal Excise Tax chart in the aforementioned blog entry, it shows there was a change in the FET tax rate for 1966.

For 1966, the FET tax rate was changed from the regular standard 10% rate down to a 7% rate. Shortly thereafter, a temporary rate change was made for the period of January 1, 1966 through March 15, 1966 where they reduced the rate even further downwards to a 6% rate. After March 15th, the rate went back to its previous rate of 7%.

Here is a image of the text faint, but readable) on the window sticker:

It is quite faint, but it says:
* BASED ON REDUCED EXCISE TAX RATE
  EFFECTIVE JAN. 1, 1966

This tidbit could give the owner an idea of its approximate date of manufacture (DOM) without any other additional paperwork in hand as to which half of the year the vehicle was made.
